Phlebectomy
Varicose veins are unsightly (and often uncomfortable) superficial veins that become engorged, usually due to a problem with the venous drainage in the leg. The treatment of varicose veins involves not only treating the underlying cause, but also removing the symptomatic varicose veins. The removal is performed with micro-incisions that heal with minimal scarring. The number of incisions depends on the extent of the symptomatic veins. Patients go home the same day and can resume their usual activities soon after the procedure. Usually, there are no sutures to remove. A bandage and ACE wrap are applied for two days following the surgery.
